Goodbye mountains

It is our last full day of vacation and we need to get back to Calgary. So it means we basically have the entire day to get there. Once we got the car packed up and fuelled up, we said goodbye to Jasper vowing to come back and spend more time.

We drove back down the Icefields Parkway and stopped at some of the places we skipped the first time. Once again I can not remember all of the places. So I think next time I will bring a notebook. Even though you are driving down the same highway, the views are different because of time of day and weather. Today we had rain, sunshine and snow showers.

We got to Lake Louise and figured let’s take the Bow Valley Parkway one final time. Unfortunately no wildlife was spotted. When we got to Banff, we did one last loop around Lake Minnewanka and saw a mountain sheep. This drive has never failed us in terms of wildlife.

Last wildlife sighting

It was time to get on the Trans-Canada Highway for the two hour drive to Calgary. Instead of going to the hotel, we went straight to the Olive Garden for dinner.  After enjoying a lovely dinner including salad and breadsticks, it was off to the Homewood Suites by Hilton Calgary-Airport ($146.12 CAD) our home for the night.  We got settled into our room and then we went over to Paul and Jen’s room to say goodbye.  We have a 9:30am flight with WestJet ($166.03 CAD including taxes) while their flight is at 3:30pm.
