We decided that we would head to Fort Lauderdale and check out the largest flea market, Swap Shop.  The most popular items that people were selling in the booths (not at the flea market) were socks, shoes, perfume and t-shirts.  The flea market was outside at the 13 screen drive-in.  It was very bizarre.  It seemed to us that people would just gather all of their belongings from home, set them up on a tarp and sell the stuff.  It started to rain and the people just picked up their tarps and threw them into the cars and headed home.  The other weird thing about this place is that they have a circus.  It’s probably the smallest circus but they had motorcycle riders who rode in the “Ball of Death”, 3 ladies that did air ballet and they had elephants.  It was actually pretty cool.

We headed over to the Las Olas Riverfront Marketplace and caught a cruise from Riverfront Cruises.  The cruise was 2 hours and took you past some of the most extraordinary homes I have ever seen.  One of the houses had it’s dock made out of granite.  We also saw a yacht that had it’s own helicopter.

We drove back to the condo along A1A highway.  The best part of the drive was seeing all of the very rich houses along the ocean and along the intercoastal waterway.  We headed down to the Sailfish Marina to take part in their Thursday night sunset celebration.  There were people selling arts and crafts and there were also a couple of musicians.
