I was very happy when I woke up and saw the sunshine … yippee no rain for our day trip to Martha’s Vineyard. We grabbed a quick breakfast and got ourselves all packed up and ready to go. We did not want to pay for parking for two cars, so Kris made two trips. Before we boarded the ferry, we picked up some sandwiches from The Coffee Table Cafe.
Karen did a lot of research trying to figure out the best combination for us and we decided to take the high speed ferry with Hy-Line Cruises. This would give us the most time to explore Martha’s Vineyard and it would be the shortest time spent on the ferry. We saw the Lady Martha pull into the Hyannis Harbor and very quickly we got on board. The ride was quite nice. We all started on the upper deck while we pulled out of the harbor. Once the boat got moving, we ventured indoors for the remainder of the trip. We left Hyannis at 11:50am and we arrived in Oak Bluffs at 12:50pm.
We spent the afternoon walking all over Oak Bluffs. We started by checking out the gingerbread cottages that surround the Martha’s Vineyard Camp Meeting Association. These cottages are so beautifully maintained. These are all each so different in terms of decorating and color schemes. People must spend a lot of time and money on the upkeep of these cottages.
We then headed over to Circuit Street to check out all of the various shops. Many of the shops welcomed Maui with open arms and once again some of them had treats for him. The afternoon went by quickly and soon it was time for us to board the 4:15pm ferry. The trip back went just as quickly as the trip out. Some of us had a nap (Maui). I think it’s all of that fresh sea air.
We got back to the house and decided to have Olive Garden takeout as our final dinner on the Cape. After dinner, the girls hit up Main Street to do some final shopping. We got back and spent the rest of the night cleaning and packing up. We need to leave by 10:00am tomorrow.
