Civic Day long weekend

Ross & Susie (Karen’s brother and sister-in-law) invited us to spend the long weekend with them at their cottage on Tasso Lake.  Yippee!

We got going around 10:30am on Saturday and decided to take the back way so that we didn’t get caught in traffic.  The drive was long and we got to the cottage around 3:30pm.  Also joining us this weekend was Karen’s brother Paul from Ottawa, his two daughters Gillian and Megan and their two dogs Max and Rosie.  Once we got settled, we spent the rest of the day enjoying the sunshine down at the dock, eating and going for a sunset cruise but unfortunately it wasn’t much of a sunset.

I got up early (8am) on Sunday and headed down to the dock to take a few pictures of the sunrise.  The mist on the lake made for beautiful pictures.  After a hearty breakfast, we packed up the cars and went to the Oxtongue Rapids.  We spent a few hours walking around the rapids enjoying the scenery.  On our way back to the cottage, we saw a bear in somebody’s backyard.  If I was those people, I’d be moving.  We got back to the cottage and some went swimming, others went fishing and all of us went for a boatride down the lake.

After everybody got up on Monday, Ross, Paul, Megan and I went out in the little boat for some fishing.  We were all lucky enough to catch fish.  And they were even some big ones.  Once we got back from our fishing expedition, we had lunch on the dock.  We all had a great weekend but unfortunately the time came for us to leave.
