Chillin’

There were no real plans for the day so I decided that I should have another sleep in day.  Now for some that means sleeping in until late morning.  For me here in Hawaii, no later than 8:00am is sleeping in.  As per usual, breakfast was enjoyed out on the lanai.

We decided that we wanted to go Upcountry but more specifically to Makawao.  It is a charming town known for its paniolo (cowboy) culture and quaint shops.  We choose to go today because Komodo Store and Bakery is open and that means we can get their world famous cream puffs.  Because we did not arrive in town until 10:00am, there were no more fresh cream puffs.  But they had frozen ones that were 50% off.  Those will have to do.  Afterwards we spent about 1-1/2 hours checking out the shops like Designing Wahine and The Maui Cookie Lady.

Since we were on the north shore of the island, we headed over to Ho’okipa Beach.  It is known to have consistent waves which is great for surfers and windsurfers.  Unfortunately there was no one in the water today even though the waves were gnarly.  From here, we made a quick stop at Safeway in Kahului before heading back to the condo.

The afternoon was spent having BBQ hotdogs for lunch and lounging by the pool.  It did rain for a little bit which forced us into the condo where we spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing.

I headed out to Napili Market to get provisions to make a Caesar Salad.  When I got back , Karen was at the BBQ area cooking up our chicken.  We enjoyed our dinner in front of the TV watching SmartLess:  On the Road.  And the day ended just as it began … nice and chill.
