– ferries are fun
– PEI is my fifth province
– digging in sand is fun
Today we have to say goodbye to Nova Scotia but it is not the end of our trip. We will definitely be back since there is still so much to explore. It took us a little while to get everything packed up in the car but just after 11:00am, we said good to the Lighthouse Lane Cottages. Our next province is Prince Edward Island and we decided that we would take the ferry over. We have a reservation for 4:30pm so we have some time.

We picked up lunch from White Sails Bakery & Deli and then drove about an hour and stopped again at Mastodon Ridge in Stewiacke. Everyone had their lunch and Kai was able to have a walk around. As we were nearing the Caribou Ferry Terminal, we still had about an hour before we had to be there. So we took a detour to Pictou and walked around the waterfront.

You are supposed to arrive at least forty minutes before your sailing. We got to the ferry terminal around 3:30pm and since there was nothing to do there, we just hung out in the car.

At 4:00pm, the Northumberland arrived and by 4:15pm, they started boarding us. We parked the car, grabbed our stuff and headed up to the Pet Lounge. It is a special area on the ship where your pet can be with you but you must pre-book.

The ride to Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island is seventy-five minutes. Karen and Kai decided to head outside for some fresh air. Unfortunately they did not last too long because it began to rain and got very windy. The trip seemed to go by quickly and soon there was an announcement telling everyone to head back to their cars.

When we arrived on Prince Edward Island, the rain had stopped and we had blue skies. Just past the ferry terminal is Treena’s Takeout. We stopped here so that Karen and I could get some supper while Kai had his.

It was about an hour and a half drive to our accommodations in Park Corner, Tranquil Dream Cottage. We have a two bedroom cottage with a giant glass enclosed deck and so much grass for Kai to enjoy. We had a brief visit with our host Francine who gave us some great information.

It was a five minute walk to Cousins Shore Beach where Kai got his look at waves. He was not sure what to think of them. But what he really did enjoy was digging in the red sand.

Once we got back to the cottage, we finished up our evening by getting settled in our rooms. It was going to be weird not sleeping in the same room as my furry friend.
