Our second port of call was Belize City. While doing our research for this trip, we could not find anything that we really wanted to do here. We also heard that you should not go exploring by yourself since there is quite a bit of crime. We therefore decided that we would just get off the ship and stay within the cruise terminal.
When I got up this morning, Karen said that she was not feeling well and therefore would not be going today. I made plans with Steve and Linda to meet up at the Lido Marketplace for the buffet breakfast. After eating, I messaged the others and we decided that we would go ashore at 10:30am. The cruise ship does not actually dock in Belize but instead you have to take a tender. I did not realize how far away we were anchored until we got on the boat and it took us about twenty five minutes to get there. It was a beautiful sunny day for a boat ride. Once we arrived, Steve, Linda and myself went one way while Marie, Brodie, Teresa, Jon and Donna went another way.
If you do not have a tour, all that you will see of Belize is the cruise port. Actually the port is made up of four small terminals that have various shops selling all of the usual souvenirs. We spent about an hour walking around checking out the stores. One thing I did end up doing was getting a twenty minute neck, shoulder and back massage for $15. On our way back to the ship, we stopped at The Wet Lizard to have lunch. With nothing else to do, it was back to the ship. The boat ride back was nice since we were on the top deck.
When I got back, I checked in on Karen who said she was feeling a little bit better. I decided to leave so that she could get some rest and went and found Marie, Teresa and Brodie at the arcade. It was then on to music trivia where we came in second place but only one point.
For dinner, I went to the buffet and I was lucky enough to run into Teresa and Jon. Teresa heard the captain say that it was going to be a great sunset tonight. I went back to the cabin to grab my camera and headed up to the Serenity Deck to enjoy the sunset.
The rest of the night was pretty quiet. A game of dice with Steve and Linda at the back of the ship and then a quick visit with Teresa, Marie and Brodie before heading back to the cabin to call it a night.
