Bon Chien dans le Vieux-Quebec

Apparently someone got up at 5:30am but I heard nothing.  The beds at this Airbnb are very comfy.  After everyone had breakfast, it was time to head into the Old Town of Quebec City.

We did some research last night and found a parking garage that is not too far from the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac.  Our first stop was the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and the surrounding artisans market.

We then walked over to Rue du Tresor.  It is a cobblestone side street where artists exhibit and sell their watercolours, engravings and paintings.  Think of it like an open air art gallery.

We made our way to Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Quebec.  Lately it seems that most churches or cathedrals I visit, are under construction.  I was just after noon and as I stepped inside, I realized that there was a mass going on.  Yikes.

Not far from the cathedral, we came upon Cafe La Maison Smith.  Besides the food and dessert being delicious,  they have seating tucked into an alley.  This was great because it gave Kai an opportunity to relax and do some people watching.

Old Town or Vieux-Quebec is broken into Upper Town and Lower Town.  Upper Town is what we explored this morning so now it was time to explore Lower Town.  Some people use the Escalier Casse-Cou (very steep steps) or the Funicular.  We opted to take the winding roads down to Lower Town.

We saw La Fresque des Québécois and Umbrella Alley on our way to Rue du Petit Champlain.  It is one of the most beautiful streets in Quebec City.

Now we had to get back to Upper Town and so we decided to take the Funicular.  The best part is that dogs are free but their humans have to pay $6.00 CAD for a ride.  Kai did not mind the two minute trip up the cliff face of Cap Diamont.  When we got to the top, we stopped and had a little rest along the Dufferin Terrace before heading back to the car.

Once we go back to the Airbnb, it was time to figure out what we were going to do for supper.  We decided on getting take out from Chez Boub.  I went to pick it up and based on how many people were eating in the restaurant and getting to go orders, I knew it was going to be good.  Our meal did not disappoint.

We ended our day with a walk at Richelieu Park.
