– hats are not my thing
– I really like the beach
We do not have a hard plans for Prince Edward Island but we have many ideas. So we are just going to play it by ear. We started our day off by having a leisurely breakfast and then a quiet morning in the cottage. We decided that we would do some exploring of the Cavendish area which is also known as Anne’s Land. This is the part of Prince Edward Island which was made famous by Lucy Maud Montgomery’s book Anne of Green Gables.

Our first stop was the Anne of Green Gables Museum. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed in the museum but are allowed on the grounds.

We left the museum and stopped in at Avonlea Village. This is a re-creation of the fictional Avonlea in Anne of Green Gables. There are shops and restaurants which we made sure to check out. We picked up something called the Happy Holiday Sandwich from Turkey Tavern. I would have to say that this was the best turkey sandwich I have ever had in my life. Dessert of course was from COWS who are known for their ice cream.

We stopped at a couple of spots to get some photos before spending the rest of the late afternoon enjoying the sunshine on the deck. For supper we decided to have the Pan Fried Haddock and Summer Salad from Sou’West. Sorry … no photos.

After supper, we had a visitor drop by. Mr. Cousins, who is the owner of the cottage, came to bring us new batteries for the TV remote. We asked him if he was any relation to Cousins Shore Road which is the road that the cottage is off of. He explained that it is named after his grandfather who had a lobster plant and cookhouse at the end of the road. We had a really nice chat with him. He told us that Kai is the first dog to stay in the cottage and that we are the first guests of the season.
Last night, the mosquitos were really bad when we walked back from the beach. So today we decided to take the car to Cousins Shore Beach. Tonight there were people fishing. We learned from Mr. Cousins that they are likely fishing for bass. Who knew. We finished up our day with myself and Karen working on our photos, while Kai slept.
