It’s looks like a painting

It was a long day yesterday, so we took our time getting up today.  After breakfast, we packed up the car for today’s adventures.  Our thought process was to do Lake Louise since it would like be really busy on the weekend.

There are two ways that you can get to Lake Louise.  You can take the Trans-Canada Highway which will get you there the fastest.  The other way is to take the Bow Valley Parkway.  The parkway is much slower but your chances of seeing wildlife are greatly increased.  When we were here in July, half of the parkway was closed for cyclists.  Now it was open the entire way.

The trip down the Bow Valley Parkway was spectacular.  Between the sunshine, blue skies and stunning scenery, many many pictures were taken.  One thing that was said often was how everything looks like a painting.  We did get lucky and saw our first bear of the trip.  He was pretty far up a mountain but it was still cool to see.

We finished up the parkway and stopped at the Samson Mall and had lunch by the Bow River.  Now it was time to go to Lake Louise.  The parking lots were very busy but with some patience we were rewarded with a parking spot that did not require us taking a shuttle.

The last time that we canoed Lake Louise it was raining.  Because it was such a beautiful day, we decided to get on the water.  You can not believe how quickly an hour goes by when you are paddling on one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.  We ended our visit to Lake Louise with a walk part way around the lake.

We tried to do Moraine Lake but the parking lot was full.  So we will save that for another day.  Because it was getting late in the afternoon, we started making our way back to Canmore.  We  thought let’s go back on the Bow Valley Parkway.  Now you are probably wondering why would you go back the same way.  The reason is time of day and light changes how the scenery looks.

We finished off our day of sightseeing with the Lake Minnewanka scenic drive which is just outside of Banff.  I think we were all pretty tired because not many pictures were taken.

We got back to Canmore and picked up dinner from The Grizzly Paw Pub which we enjoyed back at the condo.  The evening ended with us relaxing around the fire reviewing the hundreds of photos we took.
