New York No Comments »We got up and had breakfast in the hotel. Before leaving, we did a bit of research on the internet to see how the roads were around Buffalo, New York. The forecast seemed fine so we packed up the car and headed home.
We had a pit stop at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York to stretch our legs and do a bit of shopping. We continued to the Cracker Barrel in Henrietta, New York. It was Sunday … so you know what that means … homestyle chicken.
As we got closer to Buffalo, the snow on the side of the road got more noticeable and there were lots of trees on the ground. We got to the Peace Bridge and had no problems crossing the border.

Pennsylvania No Comments »After getting up and packing the car, we got on the road to our next stop, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. The drive was uneventful except for some deer on the side of the road. We saw the funniest sign ever, too bad I didn’t take a picture of it. It was for a body shop and it said that it specialized in deer collisions.
We decided to stop for a late lunch at the Country Cupboard. Which also happened to be next door to our hotel for the night, Best Western Country Cupboard Inn ($99 USD). All I can say about this place is “OH MY GOD”. It combines two of my favourite things … shopping & eating. They had an awesome buffet which reminded me of the Stone Crock Restaurant in St. Jacobs. Once we had finished eating, we then enjoyed the one acre of shopping that is attached to the restaurant. We must have spent over an hour walking around the store. We then headed over to the hotel and checked in. The hotel has an indoor pool and outdoor pool, hot tub and the best part … free bags of ice for the guests.
We drove to downtown Lewisburg but not much was open. On the way back to the hotel, we stopped at Wal-Mart and the Weis grocery store.
We headed over to Bucknell University where the AU Eagles won again (game recap). This makes the AU Eagles undefeated so far this season in the Patroit League. After saying goodbye to Liz, headed over to Damon’s Grill for a late dinner.
We got back to the hotel for a quick soak in the hot tub before settling in for the night.

New York No Comments »Karen’s niece Liz is a senior at American University on a volleyball scholarship. We wanted to catch a few more games before she finishes school and fortunately for us the AU Eagles were playing against schools that were within 6 hours driving time.
We were planning on leaving early but we learned that two of Liz’s teammates, Ann and Claire Recht, were going to be on the CBS Early Show and on NBC’s Today Show. They are the world’s tallest female twins at 6′8″.
We also learned that Buffalo, New York was hit with an early snowstorm which closed part of I-90 and the QEW. This threw a wrench in our plans. I fired up Microsoft Streets & Trips and recalculated the trip by crossing through Gananoque instead of Fort Erie. This would add 1-1/2 hours to the trip.
We crossed the Thousand Islands Bridge and headed towards Syrcause and our first stop, Christmas Tree Shops. We spent just over an hour loading up our shopping cart. We got back in the car and made our way to Colgate University in Hamilton, New York.
We had just a few minutes before the game started so we decided to pick up an early dinner from the Parkside Deli. Boy were these sandwiches ever good. The AU Eagles were victorious over the Colgate Raiders (game recap). We were fortunate to be able to spend a few minutes with Liz before heading off to our hotel.
Before checking in at the Super 8 - Norwich ($70 USD), we ended up having a late dinner at Nina’s Pizzeria. The food was excellent and I highly recommend this place.
Dwight Yoakam
Concerts No Comments »Just got back from seeing Dwight Yoakam at Centre In The Square here in town. We were 3 rows from the stage and the show was awesome. Dwight played for just over 1-1/2 hours and didn’t stop to talk at all. He did a ton of songs including “Little Sister”, “Ring of Fire”, “Guitars, Cadillacs” and others. His opening act was Johnny Reid.
