We had a quick lounge around the pool because today there were 2 weddings that we were very lucky to attend.  The first wedding was for Eowanna and Lenny, and was held at the gazebo at the Flamingo Hotel & Casino.  The setting was beautiful.  The bride and groom had all the women wearing white Elvis scarves and all of the men wore Elvis glasses and sideburns.  It was quite a fun crowed.  We then raced over to Las Vegas Garden of Love and witnessed the wedding for Scott and Jane.

We got back to the house and then had our first swim in the new pool.  It was lovely.  Allison then made us a fabulous steak dinner which we enjoyed in the gazebo.  Darren headed off to work and we unpacked some more boxes.

When we booked our trip to Las Vegas, I found out/remembered that Bon Jovi was going to be playing at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in honor of the Hard Rock’s 10th Anniversary.  Once we arrived in Las Vegas, I called the Hard Rock every day seeing if they were going to release additional tickets since the concert was sold out.  In the end, I wasn’t able to get tickets.  But we decided that we would drive by and see if we could see anything because I knew that the concert was outside.  We were driving down Paradise Road (in Allison’s Sebring convertible) and all of a sudden we could hear the band.  As we got closer, we could see that we could actually see the stage, mind you it was from behind.  I jumped out of the car, grabbed my camera and staked out a small piece of land and enjoyed the last half hour of the concert.  I heard “Bad Medicine”, “Shout”, “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” (new song from upcoming album) and “Twist And Shout”.  We headed back to the house after the concert and unpacked some more boxes.

We got up and decided to go for breakfast.  We ended up at IHOP and then made our way to The Home Depot to pick up some new tools for Darren & Allison.  We got back and started unpacking boxes.  There sure are many, many boxes.  The entire garage is crammed with them.  Karen looked at the desk and did some measuring and realized that if we took the top off the desk, it would make it through the office door.  We also started taking the desk apart.  We decided that we would go and see The Checkmates tonight.  The Checkmates are Sonny Charles and Sweet Louie who have been singing together for over 30 years.  We always make it a habit to check out their show since it’s awesome.  Everybody all aboard the Party Train!  We ended up having dinner at Arizona Charlie’s Boulder and then caught the first set.  We got back to the house and unpacked some more boxes.

The movers arrived on time and very quickly got the truck packed up.  We made the first trip to the new house around noon.  Their new home is gorgeous … 3-car garage, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a pool.  The movers got the truck unpacked and we headed back to the old house.  We don’t know where things went wrong but it ended up taking 14 hours to get everything moved.  Even after a lot of whining, the movers were unable to get Allison’s desk up to the office.  They ended up putting the desk in the dining room which nobody was happy with.  We celebrated the first night in the new house with an awesome Chinese dinner and then called it a night.

When I say Las Vegas, what comes to mind … gambling, shows, The Strip.  Does moving boxes come to mind?  Darren & Allison asked if we would like to come and help them move into their new house.  We thought about it and then said sure.  Once we decided that we would be going, we did some snooping to see how much it would cost to fly from the Region of Waterloo International Airport aka Breslau (YKF).  It ended up being about $150/person extra but we thought why not try it.

Thanks for everything, Darren & Allison .. we love you guys.

Our flight was at 12:10pm.  We figured that we didn’t have to be there until 11:00am.  Nana was able to drop us off.  The trip to the airport took all of 15 minutes.  This airport is really small.  You can actually park your car in front of the terminal.  It took us 2 minutes to check in.  The security screening took much longer … about 5 minutes.

We were able to see the flight from Detroit (DTW) land in Breslau.  The planes are really small.  They are prop planes that hold about 34 people.  They announced that our flight was ready to board.  The weird thing was that you actually had to walk on the tarmack and climb the stairs up into the plane.  The plane had 1 seat on the left side, 2 seats on the right side and 11 rows in total.  We took off and were able to see a bit of the scenery from above, including farms right next to the airport.  The flight to Detroit was 45 minutes.  Our flight to Las Vegas wasn’t leaving for a couple of hours so we were able to grab some lunch.

We landed in Las Vegas at 5:10pm.  We got our bags and headed outside to catch the shuttle bus to Hertz.  We picked up our car and made our way over to the Orleans Hotel & Casino to grab some dinner at the French Market Buffett.  We headed over to the Stratosphere Hotel & Casino to meet up with Darren.  We were very happy to see him.  We hadn’t been to Las Vegas since last August, which seemed like eternity.  Darren was able to get us into the 8:30pm show.  Thanks man! Charlie Daniels is out, Tim McGraw is in and he’s hot.  Darren was right … Tim (aka Chad) is hot!  After the show, we went back to the house where Allison was doing some final packing before the big move.  They also were kind enough to get us a cake from the best bakery on earth … Freed’s Bakery.  (Don’t forget … D & K Movers Inc will MOVE FOR CAKE!)  We helped out and decided that we should get to bed early, since the movers would be arriving at 7:30am.
