Cooking with Peter aka pork in the park with Peter

Last winter, we had a very small tailgate cookout with Peter in the parking lot at work.  Peter works out of our Toronto office.  The purpose of the cookout was the Peter could show that he could feed a family of four for some ridiculous amount.  I think it was like $10.  He brought his propane burner and whipped up a fabulous chicken dish.  We had so much fun that we asked if he could do it again.

The budget this time was $50.  Peter said that he had purchased the ingredients for the BBQ pork with crispy noodles (my request) but that he still had $25 left over.  He asked if he should prepare a mystery dish.  We said go for it.

We headed down to Waterloo Park where Peter prepared an awesome late lunch … BBQ pork with crispy noodles and spicy beef with jasmine rice (mystery dish).  There was so much food that we got to take leftovers home.  Yummy!!!  Thanks again Peter.

Photographing winter landscapes

What should you do on a beautiful sunny winter day.  Go outside and take pictures.  Karen’s friend Paula found that the University of Guelph was offering a three hour class on Photographing Winter Landscapes.  We thought that’s a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.   Karen and Paula’s friend Helayne joined us.  The class was at The Arboretum at the University of Guelph.  Our instructor was Sylvia Galbraith and she owns Silver Creek Photography.  We spent the first couple of hours inside while Sylvia gave us lots of tips and then we bundled up and went outside to practise what we had learned.

I took my car to see the mechanic on Monday and he said that it needed alot of work.  I decided it was time to retire the car.  It was a 1997 Honda CRV and it had 303759kms.  The car has been to Las Vegas, Dallas, Santa Fe, New Orleans, Florida, Prince Edward Island and many points in between.  She’s been a very good car.

The new car is a 2009 Honda CRV EX-4WD.  It’s Royal Blue Pearl and boy is it smooth.
